Breakthrough Is Possible
It was the last semester of Graduate school. It was late, it was cold, and I was tired. I had put in a full day as case manager at a local Employee Assistance Program, drove to my youngest sons soccer game where he played goalie on the High School team, ate dinner with the family (oh yes I threw that in the crock pot on my way out the door that morning) breathe…, I leaned against my car in that parking lot…another big breath; one foot in front of the other. “You can do this Dena; you’re almost there.” Was that an exhausted woman’s delusion or… breathe….it didn’t matter..I WAS VERY CLOSE TO MY GOAL! As I walked away from my car toward the building, watching my breath crystalize in the air, another worn out woman joined me. We smiled at each other, continued up the stairs of this beautiful architectural structure where we had spent countless hours over the last years , looked at the door handle, and as if we’d scripted it, we said in unison.…”WE CAN DO THIS!” We laughed all the way to class!
With the right attitude, a strong belief, and a clear commitment breakthrough is possible!
So what is the right attitude. I was just reminded of the childhood story “The Little Engine that Could” Remember that one? It was first published in 1930 by Platt and Munk. The story was used to teach children the value of Optimism and hard work! What a great attitude!
I like to think of this as an ‘Attitude of Altitude!!!’ With the right attitude you can break through and achieve anything! God tells us in Philippians 4:8 “ Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things” Sounds like altitude to me! What do you think?
What about having a ‘strong belief. What does that even mean? Either you believe in something or you don’t right? Well…it is actually translated on www.thefreedictionary.com as “an unshakable belief in something without need for proof or evidence.” Is that what I experienced entering my last class of Graduate School? I think so…like the Engine That Could…it was the first time I had faced such odds…I had a strong belief in pursuing my educational dream. No cold, “YES I CAN.”
How bad do you want whatever it is you want? Is what you want what God wants for you? That’s another blog article…your desire and Gods will!. How clear are you about the commitment you are making? How committed are you to this? You must decide. “There’s that moment every morning when you look in the mirror: “Are you committed , or are you not?” Lebron James.
I recommend that as you ponder the ABC’s of Breakthrough to not allow fear to grip you. There is one who roams the Earth who does not want you to succeed. However, Proverbs 16:3 says “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” Stay committed to God! Call out to Him, share it with others who can encourage you.
